Unlike other intakes on the market this intake was designed to draw air in directly from the outside. The intake comes with an aluminum shield that has been designed specifically for the FIAT 500X 2.4L. This shield is designed to gather cool, incoming air directly from the outside vent and force it directly in to the filter.

Unlike other systems this design limits the amount of hot, dirty engine air from entering the filter and restricting performance.

In the interest of improved air quality, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) requires new vehicle and manufacturers of aftermarket parts to develop engine and emissions equipment that either reduce or maintain specific air pollutants affected by vehicle use. Both the California Vehicle Code (section 27156) and Federal Clean Air Act (administered by the Environmental Protection Agency) prohibit modifications that increase vehicle emissions.
